SALARY RANGE: Hourly $26.00 - $37.00 (Annually: $54,080 - $76,960) Depending on Experience
POSITION: Full-time (40 hours per week)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Individuals in this classification perform a variety of field work in water operations and maintenance, landscape, and other tasks such as: installing meters, repairing curb stops, flushing fire hydrants, exercising valves, performing water testing, completing various distribution projects, and supervising contractors on-site. This position is also responsible for performing routine maintenance of District facilities, equipment, and vehicles. Work is performed in inclement weather and hazardous locations such as street areas, ditches, and confined spaces. At times, work will include handling chemicals such as Sodium Hypochlorite solutions. This position works directly with the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have high school diploma or GED and possess a valid Oregon driver’s license. Must possess an Oregon Health Authority Water Distribution Operator Certification Level 2 and Cross Connection Control Specialist and Tester Certification. Preference will be given to candidates with an Associate Degree in Water Technology. Must possess knowledge of basic types of tools and standard safety procedures. Must be able to skillfully communicate via public speaking and written documents, emails, and letters. Must be able to operate Microsoft standard business software and learn to operate CUSI utility billing system. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in restricted areas, and be able to lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must serve as Direct Responsible in Charge within first 6 months of employment. Must be able to obtain an Oregon Health Authority Water Distribution Operator Certification Level 3 within 24 months. Preference will be given to candidates with 5-7 years’ experience in operations and maintenance of a water distribution system. Preference will be given for experience working in municipal or Government agencies.
